  1. Comments about this video:
My friend had gotten acne that was severe ever since she was 14. Today she’s 33 and only during the past year got rid of her pimples. She found the Acne Executioner (Google it) and finally discovered a little something to eliminate this horrid issue. It is possible to stop and control acne breakouts if you wish to. You just need a suitable solution.
Hi mich. Should I not neutralise first before protein treatment? I really would want to get right since this is my first relaxing since my hair journey. Thanks.
Hi this is my the first time watching your channel. Let me first say thank you for sharing your hair knowledge with us folks who are not savvy about hair care. I am a 50 year old proud Mother of a 15 year old Daughter who is relaxed and has long hair like you. I try to help her keep her healthy however I am not sure how to get the nightly regimen going. Do you have any advice on what products I should try first?
Great video I use the ORS No lye twice I am a relaxer stretcher I will have to try the lye relaxer the no lye leaves my hair dry and it take a while to replenish the moisture balance. Thanks for this video my next relaxer which will be 2 1/2 months from now I will switch.

I've seen quite a few hair texturizing vids done by ladies whose texturized hair was beautiful, but they never SHOW their complete process. They tell us, or simulate the process, mostly because they've just texturized their hair 2 weeks ago, or it's almost but not quite time to touch it up. i would like to request that you upload a video of your actual process IN REAL TIME from start to finish. I would just love to SEE. If you've done that then please direct me to it. Thank you very much.
Not that it really matters, but you have a beautiful texture of hair, what is your ethnic heritage or mixture.your relaxed result is similar to mine but what was the name of the protein Aphogee? and where do I get the product please?PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW U LIKE TEXLAXING AND THE STRUGGLE (LOL). AND STUFF PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE PLEASEEEEEEE. If I were to do this I would have to do all of my hair, which is about shoulder length. So that would probably take longer than seven minutes. What should I do if the seven minutes is up and I'm still not done?
How come you only do the new growth only? Wouldn't that just give you a fro with straightened roots? Lol.
Oh, ok! So she's talking about doing a touch-up. Idk even know how to explain what I thought she meant lol -__-. Heyy. I just subscribed to your channel :) I want to know if its wise to keep relaxing/Telaxing your hair when its falling out :). Can you show us how you actually texlax your hair? A video with you using the relaxer? I think that this video is awesome, but there is nothing like seeing th real thing :).
I was into it until you talked about petroleum... Not good. Petroleum clogs the hair follicle and also it doesnt wash out easy. If relaxer is applied properly you do not need base. But basically Texlax is a texterizing the hair...
so u leave ur hair with the relaxer for 7 minutes including application time? around how many minutes does it take u to apply it and how many minutes do u usually have left over? Because for example, if it took me 7 minutes to apply relaxer and i washed it out straight away, my hair straight away, wouldnt that mean that the front of my hair wont relax at all? I'm confused lol. I love your videos you are amazing! What type of curl do you have and how long did it take you to grow your hair natural to this length? I am subbing to your channel! Good job! Make sure to stop by my channel too love... xooxxoxoo. Your bad association your using chemicals lol :) Our journey is a bite different but I still like your videos. I will recommend to other people on this journey. Take care.
when you rinse out the relaxer, you don't do it in the shower do you? it seems like it would burn your skin while you are washing it out.
I want to try texlaxing but i feel that my natural texture is so coily :( how long do you usually wait befoe you texlax again sincebthe hair is underprocessed?
Make sure you really certain that you want to texlax because you will be relaxing your whole head. I stretch my relaxers for about 5-6 months.
hey i have a question, you said one should do a protein treatment a week before the texlax. what kind of treatment is it?is it a hard or light protein treatment?thanx in advance.
I use a light protein treatment. I use the Aphogee 2 min reconstructor. My hair is protein sensitive so I don't ever use a hard protein but if yours is not, you can chose to do the hard protein.

Great tips. After my 9 month stretch it will be 5 minutes instead of 8. 7 months post on Monday, Yay!!!

I stopped going to nail/hair salons YEARS ago. I do it myself, not because I'm cheap, but because I can do a better job.

well I learned something new today. thx for the video. also (totally not the point of this video) but your lip gloss is poppin *in my lil mama voice* lol love it.
one question, so the same goes for newbie? I'm really thinking about ,"texlaxing" my hair but i'm currently 100% natural. Should I follow your exact steps and instead of applying the relaxer to my roots, apply it to all my hair?
Yes ma'am! But make sure you want relaxed hair because you will still be using a relaxer. I do not want you to regret your decision :).
I LOVE my texlaxed hair! Can't wait to cut off all my relaxed ends. You're hair is gorgeous, btw.
Yes, I have bone straight relaxed ends that I can't wait to cut off! I didn't have any breakage with the two textures but it is very common if you are not gentle with the two textures.
Love the way your hair looks. I just recently texlaxed my hair and I love it. The only thing is I did not leave it in long enough and I would like it a little looser. So my question for you is, how often do you texlax?I texlax when I feel like I can't take my new growth anymore lol Minimum 14 every 14 weeks but sometimes I will stretch to 6 months. It really depends on how I'm feeling. But you can do it as often as you would do a regular relaxer.
Lye will straighten the hair faster and sometimes depending on the hair type is a better idea...i know oddly but the hair will process faster and evenly more so than a no lye. With no lye its a longer process and your more likely to get some of your hair straighter than another area...
Hi I apologize for not answering sooner...a texturizer and a relaxer is the same thing. Often people call them kiddie perms when they are just as harsh. Now to answer your question. You asked why do i think underprocessing your hair isn't good. Here's my answer: in order to process the hair evenly (tex lax it) all the hair would have to be treated at the same time...that is impossible. If you start at the nape and finish at the front hair line the nape would be straighter then the front. my answer cont. so on that note some parts of the hair would be straigther than others...if I understood your video correctly you just want to take some of the curl out not all of it...(right?) If that is what your trying to achieve than they have products on the market for that...those relaxers tend to be beige in color hence lower amount of sodium peroxide mixed with some conditioners. With those products you won't over process or as you say the results would be under process. I went natural...I grew then cut until i was at a length I felt comfortable with instead of taking all the relaxed hair off at one time. Yes I've tried the methods...don't get me wrong the idea of "texlax" which is basically not allowing a relaxer to process thoroughly isn't a bad idea...I went into great detail explaining why the hair will never be processed evenly with what you suggest. Your suggestion won't hurt anything, but I strongly reccommend a person going to a professional. my answer cont. now here's the text book answer: if relaxer isn't evenly applied their will be uneven pattern of straight or curly hair or ridges that could be hard to control. (Salon Fundamentals 2010) Its better to use a relaxer that will only straighten the hairl a little this way your not removing all the curl...I believe affirm has one. Relaxers that tend to look white in color are more harsh than tan ones...i hope this helps. a better Idea than trying to tex lax with a relaxer is to just use a perm or relaxer that has a lower ph...the higher the ph the more harsh and straighter the hair will be. PH will range fro 1 to 14 most relaxers (sodium hydroxide) are close to 13...you can use chemicals such as a thio or acid perms (better known as curls) to soften the curl pattern without making it bone straight...known as curl reformation. please help.. will you get the same results using a texture softener ? bc when I applied my texture softener my hair is pretty much only slightly different its curly still your hair seems wavy do I need to use a relaxer or just leave it in longer?I have never used a texture softener so I can speak to how that works. I know texture softener's are not as strong as relaxers so your hair wont be too straight. You can chose to relax if you want but it depends on what you are going for.
what you did is basically a "texlax" from the texture softener...all it did was soften your texture somewhat...I'd rather you do that...but the same can be achieved as EverythingMich suggest with a mild relaxer...think of it this way...texturizer should be lower in PH than a relaxer...acid perms (are lower pH)...its best to stop doing chemicals at home...I see more broken hair than ever...all because people will not invest in themselves...cheap route isn't the answer.

are you a beautician of some sort? You seem to be against doing your own hair. My hair has been SO MUCH healthier since I started doing it myself and not letting hairdressers do it. It's not about being cheap because I could choose to go to the salon if I wanted to but it doesn't truly make sense to me when I could do it myself and do a better job. The same goes for my nails..I do them myself and I do a better job.

I am a hairstylist and I specialize in healthy hair...EverythingMich I'm sorry you had stylist that didn't do a good job and I must admit many will take the money and do things to the hair they know isn't right...some people paid to get through school and learned nothing. I took my studies seriously. I want to say i admire you...if I come off as being harsh not my intention. I still stand behind not doing chemicals yourself...i can see the back of your head whereas you can't.

feel free to ask my anything...If you noticed I try to give the book answers to questions then put them in my own words...Most black women thing they're hair is coarse when it isn't...over curly hair (nappy/kinky) is often confused with coarse...Coarse hair would be what most Asian people have...it deals with thickness not manageability. I said all that to say this...most of these folks don't need a relaxer of any kind just a good stylist tht can teach hair care and do it.

I don't think people that do their own hair are cheap but i do think \that is something you should treat yourself too. I understand times are tough...I charge $25 for a relaxer and the same for press & curl unless the hair is extremely long then I charge 10 to 20 more...but $25 is such a small investment for healthy hair. I educate my clients and I grow hair...Relaxer cost anywhere from 5.99 to 8.99...for 16 bucks more you could get your hair done.

Great video!!! So why did u use another protein treatment again & b4 shampooing your hair? It sounds like a good idea just never heard of doing that :).

Thanks! I use another protein because whenever you relax your hair, you are losing some of the natural protein structure your hair has. And right after relaxing and before neutralizing, your hair cuticle is still open. So it's great to use another protein so it can really penetrate the hair shaft. Hope that makes sense :).
Everyone's hair doesn't grow at the same rate but on average, hair is supposed to grow a 1/2 in per month. Concentrate on retaining length by minimizing breakage and damage.O'yea mii hair type is 4b/4c so do u think I should still set mii timer for 7mins...Please Help... I trying to grow mii hair out BUT I'm only giving miiself a time limit and dats 18inches in 18months.
growing out your hair takes time and patience. On average, hair does not grow 1 inch per month so please don't set yourself up to be disappointed. When texlaxing, try working as fast as you can because 7 min goes by really quickly. And unless your experienced texlaxing, you may not do it in time. Once your finished applying it, rinse it out right away.

try hairfinity that's what made my hair grow fast and I added prenatal vitiams and got amazing results.

im going to try this soon but how long did u leave it on and how long did it take to apply the product?
I'm 12 and my hair is really thick but its short and it hard to manage and I wanted a texturizer because I want my hair to be naturally curl what should I do.
A texturizer is a relaxer, it can be used to straighten out a bit of the hair's curl pattern or more. So if your hair doesn't have a significant curl pattern, it may just relax your hair. I have videos posted of my natural hair before the texturizer & after. Talk it over with your parent(s) or guardian(s) because it's a relaxer. If everyone decides it is a good option for you, my videos will definitely help along the way, so stay tuned, either way. Thanks for watching and your inquiry Cynthia.

Hi MrsSmithsince08 XOXO. Yes...well actually I was 14 months post bc. Thanks for the inquiry and viewing. Cynthia.
Hello MrsSmithsince08 XOXO. Yes, well actually I was 14 months post big chop in this video. Thank you for your inquiry and viewing of my video! Cynthia from Texturized Curls.
I lightly detangled by pulling small sections apart from each other, since my natural hair is very coily. And then I may have lightly brushed the ends so that they wouldn't cause me an issue when applying the creme. I really don't remember exactly since this video was a year ago this month, lol, that's a long time in the hair world! Thanks so much for watching Tatiana Crooks, I appreciate it. Cynthia.

Hey girl ! What was your hair texture before the texturizer ? Like was it really course or did you have some kind of natural curl pattern.
I just uploaded a video called "Hair typing - My natural hair type" so you can see truly what I was working with. It's a short video but it shows my natural hair with no product, combed out, after color, etc. So if you are still interested, and you can find the time (about 2 minutes), check it out. I tell people all the time about my hair, but they need to see for themselves because I can be a little dramatic... lol. Thanks DeZhane Britt, for watching and commenting! Cynthia. Hi ShanandBaby. No, my hair is not damp or wet before applying the Just For Me Texture Softener. Thanks for your inquiry and viewing of this video. Cynthia. Well yeah, most people don't even read the directions and will end up with straight hair...smh While some will read and follow all the directions and come out with straight hair... smh I just wanted to show my thought process and how crazy some of those instructions were, as well as show first things first... READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! Thanks for watching! Thanks for posting these videos. I just saw the product in a store today, and I'm tempted. I have 3c/4a natural hair & I'm looking for an alternative to make it more manageable without it being straight. Is it that they don't want you to comb through in the initial application, when you're first putting the product on the hair, but then after it's been on the hair a while, you should comb with a wide-toothed comb? They may be discouraging the comb-through we do when relaxing virgin hair. IDK :). My first problem, we use combs to take tangles out while smoothing/straightening the hair, so why would I use a straightening chemical and a comb at the same time if I don't want straight hair??? Second, it just told me not to comb the hair before. Then while the hair is processing (breaking down bonds that make hair curly) to use a comb. What??? If a pot of water is boiling would you turn up the heat? Why would I do that during processing time? Same difference. 3x's - no comb - great results!
Yes, there are always alternatives for hair and the care of it. As long as you are dedicated to the healthy maintenance of your hair and choose the best chemical process for you, you will be successful! And thank you so much for viewing and commenting! Cynthia.
Omg I've been looking for someone all over youtube that was helpful with texturizer a and I finally found I thank you so much you are so funny. I really enjoy your channel! Do you still get the demarcation line where your new growth ends like with perms? I am seriously thinking of doing this, but I am afraid of dealing with the two texture like my perm days! Also did you deal with knots while natural? If so, have they subsided since texturizing? Thanks for this channel!
Thank you. Yes I can tell the difference between my natural hair texture and my processed hair. No I didn't have a HUGE problem with knots but they did happen from time to time. I read the Curly Girl Handbook and my life with my hair changed for the better. Now that I am texturized I have no problem with single strand knots because I only need to detangle when I do a protein treatment. I don't do twists or braids just wash-and-go's. For my hair: Less manipulation, less tangles!
Thank you for sharing im gonna do it monday my hair texture is 4b its nappy but not that much anyways tired of wearing twist out or braids! This channel is helping me a lot...Be blessed :). When you were talking to the camera I was sitting here nodding my head yes like we we're actually talking lol!
LOL! Great, now when my family looks at me like I am crazy and say I have lost it because I talking to "myself" in the bathroom... I can tell them to mind their business because MsSugaHill and I are having a conversation! You made my day, and thank you! Cynthia.
Sorry if I confused you in this video, but the Soft & Beautiful's Just For Me Texture Softener is a hair texturizer. I also apologize for the delay in my response. Thank you so much for your inquiry and viewing of this video. Cyn. BTW, I just used the JFM and I'm excited because I hate shrinkage, so tomorrow I'll see how it all goes!Hmm, good question. I never thought about that. Yes! but its not always a good thing. My natural hair always needed moisture, always and no protein! Now my texturized hair can get mushy with that amount of moisture. So I had to learn how to repair moisture overload and remember to give myself small shots of protein when needed. Hope that helps! Cyn. Great question! Shrinkage! pure and simple. I despised the amount of shrinkage my coils had. I was just tired of feeling conflicted, I loved being natural, but hated not looking like I did before I cut all my hair off. Loved the simplicity of styling and maintenance, but hated puffs, corn rows, flat twist and afros but it was so shrunken that's all I could do! It got worse after I straightened my hair on my 1 year Natural Anniversary, because I got to see how long my hair had gotten. Thanks!
No, I didn't have any burning because I had NO cuts, scrapes, rashes, irritated skin or scratches around my hairline or on my scalp before application. Although some people don't have anything listed above they can still burn because they have extremely sensitive scalps, so beware! Cyn.
LOL, well yeah, most people don't even read the directions and have straight hair. While some will read and follow all the directions and come out with straight hair. I just wanted to show my thought process and how crazy some of those instructions were, and I sound crazy, lol but my hair turned out healthy with medium curls and waves. And thanks for the viewing and commenting, you're sweet! Cyn. Hi! May I ask what your name is? I really love the fact that you always reply to, not just me, but everyone's answer! You reply pretty fast and I love that! I wanted to know if you can do a video on how to protect your hair when swimming because I am a swimmer. I'm uncertain if the texturizer would make it harsh for me to swim with the chlorine. I swim everyday with my swim team at my university. Thank you so much!Haven't been swimming yet w/texturized hair, so I don't know, sorry I am assuming that you're natural & swimming everyday... is your hair healthy? It's worth the risk if everything turns out fine or big chopping may be the only answer if everything goes wrong, can you live with it? I made an "Executive Decision" when I decided to texturize my colored tips, also when I decided to flat iron my now "double processed" tips on 392 degrees. It's a 50/50 shot, but it's your call! Thanks, Cynthia.
I suggest whichever texturizer you use, follow the Timing Chart because it goes by your hair texture/type.
Thank you soo much for creating your channel! I've been searching all over for a channel like yours! I was natural for 2 years then I got a texturizer but still wear my hair curly :).
You are so welcome, and thanks! That is exactly how this channel came about, I too was searching YouTube to see if anyone made the same choice as I did, and there weren't that many videos. Nevertheless, those who did apply a texturizer, didn't give anymore info... no helpful tips, no updates, no nothing... so I started this channel. Hope I am helpful, and thanks again.

Seeing that i have fine hair too and hate my natural hair, im currently going to be two years natural and i hate having to deal with the detangling and tedious process... straight hair also seems to suit my personality and lifestyle. ouve inspired me to texlax..2 aquriuoschic its gotten thicker slightly, I think instead of olive oil in my relaxer I'll use conditioner this time, I'm 10 weeks in today is my assessment for a touch up. It has a healthy appearance which I love love love. I'll be watching more of your episodes.Oh nice, Yes conditioner is good. makes it process less so you have more texture in your hair. I'm so happy for you. Keep me posted on your progress honey. Thanks for the support. XOXO.
My hair is much like yours, its thin and i've thought about going natural, but then I say let me keep texlaxing maybe it will change and thicken up.
How is the Texlaxing going so far for you? Do you like it. For me, I like it, it's definatly made my hair more healthy and slightly fuller. Girl why you telling her like she dont know? i really dont understand why people do that... you shouldve just kept that negative comment to yourself.
Your hair looks nice but a little thin i think if you judt stopped perming altogether your hair would look thicker i can see that look at your roots. There thicker but the rest is sorta limp.

I know, I have fine hair. That's why i started texlaxing. but we will see how it goes with the whole perming thing. LOL.

Texlax, is basically when you under process your hair, leaving some texture in the hair during relaxing, so it is not so straight.
i like the luv naturals detangler (i will be posting review soon) and I found another one thats also good call the great detangler (i have a review for it on my channel), so far so good with those 2 detanglers.
ouuuu yes it is. the detangler that really worked for me is the luv naturals detangler ( need to do a video on it) and i just found this other one that is also nice, Its called the great detangler (i have a review on it, if you wanna check it out).
I'm right there with you battling 3 textures. Not sure if you mentioned it before but what system are u referring to product wise that makes it easier for u to stretch?the 3 textures is no joke dear, for me cowashing 2 times per week and using a great detangler has made it easy to stretch so far.your hair is looking great.. I think I'm going to start doing my length checks or vids about my hair at an angle like that... it makes seeing the hair so much better :).
I'm 25 weeks post tomorrow lets do this stretch together boo. Ur hair looks great so thick and long.
Ouuuu, girl, really, WOW, Thats awesome, congrats to you. keep it up. How long do you plan to stretch for? I am with you, You are really motivating me. I need all the support and you giving it to me. Thanks so much. Yes, Ive been natural for four years starting June 1st of this year and you know i see growth and length my i need my hair to be HEALTHY. So i agree with you on that.. Love your hair and the texture... Keep stretching, maybe you'll go natural :) love your video xoxo. LOL, I never know what can happen, If I love it, I might just chop it off, Thanks so much, Love your hair sis :).
Looks good! It's funny, us "relaxed to texlaxed" girls all say the same thing - we can't wait to cut off our bone straight relaxed ends. I guess we are all getting the "cutting fever" now that we can really see the thickness/fullness in our hair! Keep up the good work :-)).

Hi ,I really want to know if i can go form relaxed hair to a texturizer im( 3 months post my last relaxer ) :).
Thank u so much for replying to my question, I will definitely try to braiding styles to manipulate my hair to curl in the front.

Ive been natural for 14+ yrs my hair has always been pass my shoulders but I want it to grow almost to my waist as it can n a locked state. The longest my hair has been with & w/out locks have been to bstrap, but I know hair grows from the scalp & the key is 2 minimize damage & breakage I been thinkin long & hard bout doin a texturizer like this since its still a chemical process I get stylist sayin don't. HELP! Plz watch Hidden Colors ! & 2 it will change the very core of your self perception.
Hello nepurpose. I think I got a bit confused. Are you saying you lock your hair and it's not growing longer? Are you saying that you prefer not to lock anymore and texturize? Are you saying that you want to texturize and lock? Let me know! Cynthia. Hello again. I have never heard of Beautiful Beginnings, I am thinking about trying something different anyway. But I still have one box of Just For Me Texture Softener left. So I will see what I can find out about that brand. Thanks. Cynthia.
I applied the just for me to my hair and the back is really pretty but the front is super straight. I want the front to be curly like the back, what can I do?

Hello GA34Vet. I uploaded a video about braids & braid outs, watch that video and view the results and see if it might be helpful for blending. I also have a video of side puff with a pompadour you might want to look at. It looks like you sent this about 2-3 weeks ago, if you haven't seen any waves or curls by now, those videos might help. How long is your curly hair? How long is your straighter pieces? Would you like more styling videos from me? Let me know and thanks for viewing! Cynthia.

Hello Sherae Ware. I use the Just For Me Texture Softener by Soft & Beautiful to get these results. You will have to view more of my videos since each time I did it for different times due to the results I am looking for at the time. This video was 7-8 months ago, so I don't know off hand. Thanks for viewing and your inquiry. Cynthia from Texturized Curls.
My texture didn't change. I was type 2C before and after. The only difference was my hair being softer and more manageable.
Hi Stephanie Vault. Thanks so much for being honest and sharing the true about texturizers, it is very helpful and much appreciated. And thanks for viewing as well. Cynthia from Texturized Curls.

Question: if you do the texturizer on a regular basis will the hair eventually get use to it to the point where you no longer have to use texturizers and the hair just remains in its soften curly state? And would you say that it was the texturizers that grew your hair?
Hello Muy Bonita. Your new growth will grow still in it's natural state. Meaning that if it is not processed it will stay natural. Your processed ends will always be processed. Improved techniques, more knowledge, and better products can always sway people to transition back to natural because new growth isn't as hard to manage because of those factors. I grew 4-7 inches natural in 14 months. Texturized I grew 4-7 inches also in 14 months. The growth is the same, the curls are different.
My hair looks like that. What'll happen if I texturize it? Would it get straight? My hair is a little over 14" long average.
Hi BabyGirlWWEDiva. I don't think my hair is even 14 inches long now, I haven't measured in a while. I am a bit confused about your question. Are you saying you natural hair is like my natural hair (tightly coiled and compacted)? Or are you saying your hair looks like my texlaxed hair (wet) wavy and bit curly? I probably just read the question wrong, if so let me know and I will try again. And thanks for viewing and commenting. Cynthia. My hair when it's wet is like your texlaxed hair when it's wet. I wanted to know how would the texture of my hair change if I texlaxed it? Thanx for recognizing me :D.
Can you tell me what your hair type was before the texturizer? I want to loosen the curls around my crown area because it's tighter and frizzier than the rest of my curls, but I'm so scared!
Hello lexibexisexi1. I don't know my hair type but I made a video "Hair typing - My natural hair type? - You tell me!" so that people can see for themselves if they understand the whole typing system and they can make an informed choice. Doing a texturizer is risky, so if you are not ready for it. Don't rush into it. Good luck and thanks for watching, and if you get a chance, check out my hair typing video. That would be cool. Cynthia. I NEED HELP!!! My hair is colored with (permanent) color and I want to apply a texturizer. I've been natural for a year and some change. I did a spot check on my hair and the texturizer completely straightened my hair but only because I combed it through ;(... If I did apply texturizer to my entire head (without combing) do you think my hair will completely straighten due to my permanent hair color?.ive been looking everywhere and cannot find anything pertaining to this matter.PLEASE HELP ME!!Hello Brittany Williams. Well, I don't think that color would cause your hair to be straight. Using the wrong application technique (combing/smoothing) and/or the wrong amount of time for processing (your hair type) would definitely cause your hair to be straight. I remember it said wait after coloring. Google it, type in "Instructions for Just for me texture softener" just to check if you don't already have them. Hope this helps! And thanks for viewing. Cynthia. Hi Kristen Parks. It is a yes/no response to your question. A texturizer is a relaxer (mild strength) used to soften (slightly relax) your natural curl pattern. You can do the same with a regular/normal strength relaxer. In other words, under-process your hair. The term texturized/texlaxed is used when a person uses a relaxer and leaves as much texture (curl pattern) or as little pattern as they want. While not getting the hair totally straight (Fully processed/relaxed) Thanks, Cynthia. Hi Kristen Parks. It's a yes/no response to your question. Hi daysia wilson. I big chopped in June of 2011, after 14 months of shrinkage I decided to texturize my coily hair in August 2012. I gained 5-7 inches when I was natural, and 5-7 inches texturized. So the texturizer just made my coils turn to hang longer as waves and curls. Thanks for the question and viewing. If I can be of anymore help, feel free to ask. Cynthia.
Shrinkage happens with texturizers, as well. There's NO way of getting around it. Curly hair shrinks.
Hello reece tongs. No, I am no longer natural, well just my new growth is, lol. Thanks for watching and your inquiry! Cynthia. i've watched so many vids on texturized hair. and i must say yours by far came out with the most gorgeous results!!
Thanks again, Hillary Angelic! Giving the pros and cons of texturizing/texlaxing is so helpful to others, I just wish I had someone to follow before I decided to take the plunge. Nevertheless, I am feeling it out for myself and keeping my hair healthy. Thanks for the kind words, I definitely will keep up the work knowing it helps. Talk to you soon! Cynthia.
Hi B. Espo. I ordered my shirt from hairlista. com Thanks for the inquiry and viewing of my video! Cynthia.
my hair is colored but i want to do a texturizer my hair has been colored for about a month can i do it still? dont want my hair to fall out.
Well waiting can only make your hair stronger, but I did my first application over colored tips (at the crown area of my head) I had no problems then. It was only when I over processed (on purpose) to achieve the results I wanted that I got in trouble with those tips. I cut them, I layered the crown, and keep it pushing! Just thought I would be completely honest, but it's really your choice! Good luck whatever you decide thickmadame4ever! And thanks for commenting and viewing. Cynthia. I haven't a clue? Nevertheless, I just uploaded a video this morning called... "My natural hair type..." If you have the time and if it may interest you, check it out, that would be awesome! And thank you so much for watching. Cynthia.
That is nothing but a jheri curl. True, it's leaps and bounds better than a regular relaxer but eventually your hair will start to break off and you'll lose length. I know from personal experience having worn a "texturizer" for 6 years before a complete big chop in Sept 2007 where my hair was an inch long. My hair is 3c all over with 4a at the crown and now it's mid-back length. The positive is that your hair stays moisturized and it'll allow you to go natural again without a lot of damage.

Jherri Curls are done by -using a chemical to straighten the hair (relaxer) -rinsing thoroughly -then using a neutralizing agent -then using a liquid chemical to start the curl pattern of choice with the help of rods and hooded dryer -rinsing thoroughly -then using a neutralizing agent -using a reconstructor -deep conditioning -adding curl activator -and/or curl moisturizer.

Relaxers come in three strengths, Super, Regular/Normal, Mild (Texturizer) They're used to relax the curl pattern of naturally curly hair to fully straight (relaxed) or anything in between (texlax/texturized). If any texture is left in after applying sodium hydroxide (lye) or calcium hydroxide (No-lye) it is considered under-processed, not a curl.
Everyone has their own hair experiences. My hair has been natural, mildly relaxed, texturized back to perm back to mild relaxer lol. No breakage. I say do what your hair can deal with and have fun.
Hey I used a s-curl and it made my hair straight like white boy straight but it stands up -.- is here anything I can do to make it go back to my fro or can I curl it any way ? Please hit me back !
Relaxers come in three strengths, Super, Regular/Normal, and Mild (Texturizer) and are permanent. Your new growth will have your normal curl pattern and is constantly growing. So only your ends will stay straight and you can go back natural as soon as your ready. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cynthia.
your hair look beautiful. After u apply it how long did u leave it in for ? sorry im not sure if u answer this question alrea2y.
I have several videos posted of my first texlax and my touch-ups, and since I didn't do it the same way each time, I made a point of typing it in the video or mentioning it in there. My first texlax was August 2012, I don't remember exactly since it was a year ago but I do remember after a month I wasn't happy with my results so the next time I did another semi-full application. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cynthia.
I'm pretty sure texlax is not texturizing its relaxing you hair but leaving it on for a lesser amount of time.

If any texture is left in the hair after applying sodium hydroxide (lye relaxer) or calcium hydroxide (No-lye relaxer) it is considered under-processed. Thanks for watching!A perm or anything neither has my mom so were both very ignorante to this fact if you could help me that would be amazing thank you!!Hi I'm a 15 yr old girl and I have really curly hair!! I was born with it it's always been long and curly but the problem is my hair's like a spring it's down to under my chest when I straight it but when I wear it curly its like shoulder length you could never tell it was that long intill I straighted it I want my curls to be looser not like a wave but just looser then now would a texturizer be the way to go? Will it damage my hair permantely? Will my curls ever go back the same? I've never got. Relaxers come in three strengths, Super, Regular/Normal, and Mild (Texturizer) Relaxers are permanent chemical processes that can relax the curl pattern of naturally curly hair to fully straight (relaxed) or anything in between (texlax/texturized). Results vary depending on strength of relaxer, curl pattern, hair thickness, and hair's porosity. Chemical processes on hair can be okay, or it can damage the hair, there's always a risk! Hope this was helpful information, and thanks for watching!i feel you girl i've been natural for nearly 5 yrs and my results being natural stunted my hair growth. when i was stretching my relaxers 6-7 months apart resulted my hair to being mid back length. i am deciding to go back to a relaxer or possibly a texterizer soon. Yes natural hair, just as chemically processed hair, can have it's advantages and disadvantages. And it is more than alright to change your mind either way. Good luck and healthy hair journey, MissLitebrit3! Thanks for viewing and commenting! Cynthia. Sorry, I forgot to ask a question. Is there a difference between texturizing and texlaxing. Or are the words being used interchangeable. In my opinion, they are completely interchangeable. They are both under-processing the hair using sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide (relaxer) All texturizers are relaxers in mild strength! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cynthia. I am growing back from the BC. I get to a certain length, and I just cannot continue to grow my hair out natural. It is too dry, no matter what I use. I have spent hundreds of dollars in products following people here. My scalp also gets sore in my natural state. So, I am convinced that I have to soften my hair with texturizing. For those who have all natural hair, it's gorgeous. For me, it is a pain. Love your hair. Those issues came up for me too, dry hair, and wasting money. Not to mention sore scalp, from combing, dryness, growing and sometimes "that time of the month". Nothing I can do about "that time of the month" or sensitivity due to my new growth coming in, but I fixed the rest of those issues before texturizing. I used Yes To Carrots Pampering Conditioner as a leave-in and moisturizer, and Tresemme Naturals as Co-wash & detangler (fingers only) & nothing else for a few weeks, pure magic! Thanks.
for some reason people with that type of curly hair grow their hair out so fast its amazing. My only problem is i did a texlax back in November of 2012 stupid me barely know what i was doing and straighted half my hair and texlaxed the other half ohhh. So now im thinking about texlaxing again in august or so but im confused should i do or should i get a stylist to do it. And yeah everyones going to say a stylist all the way but what if they don't knoiw what a texlax is, and straighten my hair :(.

I'm buying this product too. I did the big chop back in March. My hair is a 3b. The lenght now is about 4-5in long now bit shrinkage is a beast... plus I like yo wear quick weaves or wigs Braiding is hard sometimes so doing this will help when Iam doing those other styles.
Oh my god. Thank you so much! You're the only one on YouTube that showed their hair from completely natural to texlaxed. Our hair is pretty similar except your curls are slightly tighter. I'm sip tired of dealing with shrinkage and puffy hair. I'm def subscribing to your channel.Hello Sophiexxi. You are so welcome. I hope to have many more videos posted that will be of some help to you and other new subscribers. If you have any suggestions for videos that I might make, please feel free to let me know. I definitely would love the input. Thank you for your kind words and subscribing. Cynthia. What was your hair texture before you texlaxed? I have 3c hair and I'm really curious as to how my hair will turn out.
Hello Sophiexxi. I don't understand the typing system but, I just posted a video called "Hair typing - My hair type?- You tell Me!" because everyone asks that and I just don't know. It's only 2 minutes or so long, and it shows my natural hair texture up close, with and without product, after the big chop and before the texlax. If you think it might help you and you can find the time, feel free to view it, that would be cool. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting. Cynthia.

I am two and a half years natural and have been wanting to texlax but I've been scared and nervous, what gave u the strength to do it?
Strength??? LOL I texlaxed out of pure frustration of massive shrinkage, looking like a boy by the head, and still sporting a twa 14 months after the big chop. My hair was 6-8 inches after 14 months and shrunk up to 1-2 inches every darn day. I flat ironed my hair in month 13 every two week for the entire month, wishing for heat damage, washed my hair and poof... back to a massive shrunken fro, that was the last straw! Hope this helps, and thanks for all your support. Cynthia.
Hello betseyjohnsonfierce. No my hair didn't break, it was the shrinkage it wasn't going to take anymore. The massive shrinkage because my natural curl pattern was so tightly coily. After 14 months since the big chop, I was still in twa stage, even-though my hair grew to be 6-8 inches. The boy cut look was not doing it for me. Thanks you so much for inquiring and viewing. Cynthia.

Hi Ruby Damper. Are you saying the rest of your hair is natural and you want to loosen your curl pattern for just your leave out, so it's easier to blend? hmm... I mean you can, but I am confused to why you would want to. I have seen many YouTubers get really creative with how they blend their natural hair with their wigs/weaves... Thomasadrianna pops right in the front of my mind. It's your choice, two textures takes alot more care then one! And thanks for watching. Cynthia.
Hi! can someone help me please. I texturized my hair but i am not happy with the results. my hair texture is the same but softer. I want straight hair, would you suggest i use a relaxer or use the texturizer on top of my previously texturized hair and just comb it and leave it on longer? and it has been a week since i texturized my hair, how long do i have to wait?
Hello TheAni890. At this point, going to a professional would be the smartest thing, but I am not that smart... I didn't like the first results a few weeks after I texturized. I waited 3 months before doing another FULL application. But I forgot that I colored the tips of my hair at the crown area months before I did my first application. Nevertheless, I had to cut those tips off and created layers. I have no regrets, you live and you learn. Just being honest! Thanks for watching. Cynthia.
Actually, I just posted a video about my natural hair before the texlax/texturizer... "My natural hair type?..." When you get some time, and if you want to check it out, that would be cool! Thanks for watching! Cynthia. How did your hair come out curly, is it because of the scrunching because I use just for me n my hair comes out straight? Plz reply.
My hair is tightly coily and curly, I used the texturizer (mild strength relaxer) to relax my curl pattern to loose curls and waves. Thanks for watching! Cynthia.
love it your hair came out beautiful definately what im gonna do I didnt want to perm it but I need my hair to be a bit more managable.
I just posted a video about it named... My natural hair type. I made it because I don't understand or use the typing system, but some people like to know where I came from with my hair before texlaxing, if they are good with the typing system then the video will be a great tool for that. Thank you so much for watching! Cynthia.

A texturizer is equivalent to a mild relaxer, so you can only apply it to your new growth. And thanks! Cynthia.

I did it today! Thanks for replying. Just like I thought my curls are diff in the front then in the back but I don't mind. It's more manageable and that's what's important hopefully with the second application I can get the back to match the front. Thanks for this vid btw it helped make my decision. Quickest decision I ever made lol.

love you results! i'm a little scared though because my curls are soo different everywhere I dont want some part to be 4c curly while others are straight :(( that would be no bueno. I love my curls my hair is just waaaay too think to continue being natural.
Thank you! And if you are a little scared to texlax, don't do it! It is a risk, there is no guarantee on how your hair will look, act, or feel after the process. If you are afraid to texlax, don't do it! It is a risk, there is no guarantee on how your hair will look, act, or feel after the process. I had no guarantees when I did it, but I had no fear either. My contingency plan for if it came out damaged or straight, was to wear my hair in two twist/french braids and colorful scarves as headbands for another year then cut off the straight pieces. But anyway, make the best choice for yourself! Much luck, and Happy Hair Journey! Cynthia.
All chemical processes can damage hair, always be careful. I love straight pieces when I flat iron my hair, lol... not when I am wearing my curls! Thanks, Cynthia.
Don't do it I did it and I had 4a hair texture the result vary and you can lose all of that in one second. I know that your hair cant be washed within the 24 hours, but what im asking is when you put it in your hair can your hair be blowed dried? Im in a rush to get this texturizer and right now my hair is blow dried from previous days ago... so can i put the texturizer in my hair even though its not currently curly?I am not an expert, I have only been texlax/texturized for 8 months and on a Healthy Hair Journey for 1 year and 10 months, so I don't know anything for sure. With that being said, I would suggest to wait until your hair is natural state before applying... that way if you see something goofy going on with your curls you can decide to stop the process by neutralizing right away. Just my thoughts!I use the same thing cause my mom won't let me get relaxers...but my hair comes out straight, how come...u wonder what the odds ate that someone else's used it and it worked for them too. Glad ur turned out so good. Yeah, I hear that alot. The thinner curly hairs and wavy hair are very loose almost straight in my hair, it doesn't process evenly. I just trimmed them a bit so they would blend better. But I had no problems with my super coily hair. Thanks for watching and commenting.a texture softener is just a milder form of a relaxer really so if you keep it on longer than you are supposed to you are just relaxing your hair.
i like the idea of softening my curls, but i do not want my hair to be straight. when i was relaxed, i left it on for 10-15 minutes and it was straight! how can a texlaxer make it curly and not straight?
When I apply the texture softener 1. I work fast 2. I don't over apply the product, that can weigh hair down ( causing straightening) 3. I don't use a comb 4. I don't pull the hair when applying 5. I don't go back over any section and smooth The time is also different. 1. I never take longer then timing chart says for application or processing (every strand doesn't have to be coated) 2. If I apply it faster then the allotted time I subtract that time from processing and rinse out sooner! Cyn. I colored my hair, only at the crown, when I was natural in March/April 2012. I texlaxed/texturized in August 2012. Thanks for watching. Cynthia. Hello again, Hillary Angelic! I used the Soft & Beautiful Just For Me Texture Softener. Thanks, Cynthia. I love it! That was such a creative idea (the hair length shirt) You are absolutely beautiful nd your hair looks strong and healthy Good goin Ma...God bless and thanks so much for sharing your tips :).
I just uploaded another touch-up video, the first one was in Nov/Dec and my second one was just a few days ago. And by the way, I will be uploading a video (Sunday) showing how my hair has progressed since this video with all 3 length checks using the shirt (Aug - Mar 7 months) Thank you so much for viewing and commenting! Cynthia.

My last relaxer was in September of 2012, I have about 3 inches of new growth and my curls range from 3b-4a. Its really hard to detangle my hair even when wet and it just ends up a big matted mess! I still have my relaxed hair and I wanted to know do you think I should get a texturizer? And can I leave it in for a little time so it won't straighten all the way? Thanks!
I was relaxed too & stopped. I used too much heat to tame my textures. So I decided to put it in a ponytail and a hat daily... that was the worse way for me to deal with my 2 textures, and due to breakage I eventually had one texture... DAMAGED! Well, it seems as if you are having difficultly dealing with 2 different textures. If you texturize that's 3 until it's safe to do a touch-up... your natural hair coming in, texturized hair and relaxed hair.I have a couple of questions. Are you transitioning to texlaxed hair, for fuller straight hair, less damaging than a relaxer. etc? Are you slowly transitioning to natural. your own curl coil pattern? If you said yes to either of those then you would find more answers from transitioning channels. If you are transitioning to texturized from relaxed but want to keep your relaxed ends until your ready to b/c I am at a lost because I didn't have healthy relaxed hair either. Let me know!?! Cyn. Ok this is how I want my hair. ive been natural for 18 years basically 19 but want a change. It's driving me nuts and I realized i do my hair for other people so THEY'LL like it. Could you tell me exactly what you did? Our textures are sim I'm 3c 4a..Actually, the two videos before this shows everything I did besides me in the shower rinsing out the texturizer and applying deep conditioner. In the first video I go through the instructions and say exactly the steps I will omit or alter. The second video shows my prep and application. Hope this helps!Thank you for viewing my video and your inquiry about my hair length check shirt. I ordered this shirt from hairlista. com It is not an exact measurement because the numbers start an inch or two past your shoulders, but yes as your hair gets longer each number and line represents an inch of growth. I hope this answers your questions, if not feel free to write back! Thanks again, Cyn.
My hair is multi-textured, but majority of my hair is super coily with massive shrinkage. The number/letter typing system (2a, 2b, etc,) doesn't fully encompass my hairs characteristics, I just don't use it. But videos/pictures are worth a 1,000 words, see for yourself! I recently posted a series called "Back When I Was Natural" that shows my 100% all natural hair. Also a slideshow " Pics of 14 months naturally curly hair before Just For Me texture Softener" may be helpful. Thanks, Cyn.
i watched some other vids on texlaxing and some put conditioner.. did you put anything in your hair softner?Great question! The answer is no, since I too have seen some videos with people putting other things in the hair softener or relaxers and still coming out with straight or straighter hair, I was like "Gee, what was the point?1?" LOL Thanks for the viewing and great question! Cyn. I've been getting so frustrated with my hair. I'm extremely tender headed and I dread wash day because I have to detangle this thick hair I have. I am really considering texturizing my hair. I'm nervous about it but I'm tired of how long it takes to detangle and wash and style my hair.
Well, it will be easier to detangle. A chemical process will alter your hair, good or bad, it's a risk. If you are not willing to risk it, don't do it. I had no idea what my hair was going to look like, but I wasn't going to deal with severe shrinkage one more day! My contingency plan, if my hair turned out straight was to wear 2 french braids with colorful scarves as headbands for another year, no cutting and no regrets. I was keeping my 6-7 inches of hair, straight or curly, lol! Cyn.

It looks nice while wet...I want to see it dry!! How badly did it shed? Did you notice any drastic thinning or do you think it was possibly dead hair trapped in your once thick natural hair thats being released because you have a more loose texture?? I've been natural for going on 3 years in April..I was thinking about softening my texture to avoid further damage/knots from when I detangle. But I fear the damage chemicals might do more..it was the whole reason I went natural in the first place.
To see my dry results watch my "Slide show of my natural hair before the Just For Me Texture Softener and after". My shedding was enough to notice, but not enough to worry. I co-wash almost every day so it wasn't trapped hair. Fear of chemical damage is normal, don't do it before you're ready, because it is risky. It took me a whole year of being natural to finally decide I am not going to take shrinkage this massive one more day, lol. Cyn.
I viewed your blog and was looking for before and after photos of your texturized hair while it was dry. Did you follow the steps on just for me exactly, and were the results a loosened curl pattern? I'm skeptical about trying this, but I'm really wanting a curly deep wave to my natural 4c hair. Do you have any advice? Also what products works better after texturizing to moisturize hair?
GVP Matrix Biolage Conditioning balm is the only deep moisture treatment I have used in the past 3 months. I haven't had the time to research and purchase anything else. For daily moisture I use a variety of different conditioners for pre-moistening, co-washing, leave-in, as well as a styler.
I have no experience with 4c hair so I haven't the foggiest ideal if you can achieve those results. You could try a strand test, cut a bit of hair in a not so noticeable area or use shedd hair, to see if your 4c hair will do that, just an idea. Cyn.
